RER: Responsible Electronics Recycling

Why are we doing this?

Because it is well documented that e-waste is extremely toxic when not disposed of in an approved manner. The RER program was first conceived four years ago when it was noted that electronics waste or e-waste often found its way into landfills throughout Manitoba. Although there are several recycling programs available to Manitobans currently none specifically addresses electronics waste.

The RER program operates in conjunction with the Selkirk & District Community Learning Centre. The Centre has the facilities to act as an e-waste recycling depot for the Municipality as well as a pivot point for e-waste education in the region. Staff and volunteers at the Centre ensure e-waste is disposed of in a responsible manner.
